Smithsonian Rock & Gem Dig

Inspire a child’s love for science with the NSI Smithsonian Rock and Gem Dig Kit—a hands-on excavation adventure that reveals the wonders of geology. Designed for ages 8 and up, this STEM kit lets kids uncover 11 real gemstones, minerals, or rocks hidden inside a sand block using tools like a mallet, dowel, brush, and magnifier. As they dig and identify each specimen, children learn about rock formation and earth science in a fun and engaging way. A colorful poster and detailed instructions guide them through the process, making it perfect for both home and classroom learning. By donating this kit through Toys for Tots, you’re giving a child in need the chance to explore the natural world and spark a lifelong interest in science.
